I know this sounds wacky, but think about it, math and numbers are only useful to human beings. If we didn't create the system of math what would numbers be useful for?

It's just a system created by humans and is only relevant to humanity. Sometimes I just like to think about tripped out shyt.

Like there is one poster that shows earth in his sig and it looks like a spec of dust from the universal standpoint, and it kinda insinuates that's how small and insignificant we are. But when you think about it, that's really how much me watter. Because without us that picture never could be taken and there would be no understanding of the universe.

I know, i`m on my
If you want to be a caveman about it, yes, you can ignore math and live in the Amazon jungle for the rest of your life eating bugs and worms.

If you want to do things like build supercars, aircraft carriers, computers, basically anything of high technology, then you need math.

Just like time is something we created, even though that would somewhat be considered math as well..

“Time isn’t precious at all, because it is an illusion.” :ohhh:

I always tell people, don't ever worry about the past because that shyt is literally dead.

Once a moment passes it is dead and we can;t control the future so that's a lost cause too.

yes they exist because it application helped create many useful things we use in the world (this computer for instance). To say numbers don't exist is like saying the world does not exist once you close your eyes. It is all about the discovery.

You say they helped create computers, but we really helped create computers.

Numbers didn't just create computers out of nowhere. I`m saying if we never existed or ceased to exist.

interesting idea and I see where you getting at. But this convo is like if a tree falls in the woods and no one around to hear it does it make a sound. I guess you could say that numbers exist as long as there is someone around who can understand them.

Yeah, i`m just looking for some fun, outside of the box type of discussion.

It really came from me thinking about animals and how everything they do is off instinct. Like beavers can build immaculate damns, and they don't need any type of number system to measure that. They go off of instinct.

crazy if all these tech advancents we have right now is based on something we made up. :krs: :yayo:

I also think we've already had two threads that are very similar to this so there's a topic exhaustion/fatigue involved unless we want to discuss this with more depth or technicality. This "whoa, dude, did you ever think about..." sort of convo is kinda :yeshrug: unless someone has some information

True, I guess you can call this a spin off the thread brown_pride made the other day.

I'd post the sh*t I know, but alot of the assumptions are sketchy and hard to explain

mathematics has always existed for god is mathematics and god has no beginning nor ending.

The universe didn't just come into existence instantly.

Time can only be made & measured when there is motion.

I think, to answer your question, that numbers per se are a human construct. But what they represent has always been there, its just a way for us to quantify our universe and make sense of it. Numbers could have been some weird Elvish language but the way we manipulated them to understand our world would still bring about the same conclusions.

Basically this, it's really a loaded question(very complex) and hard to explain, especially by just typing it out( a lot of translation will be lost)

But here's a clip that sound answer your question:
