A CP3 led team has never done shyt.

I Have 5 Reasons why this doesn't completely fall on Melo... And I'm a Knick fan
1. Jason Kidd is playing like trash.... dude hasn't even scored a point this series.
2. JR Smith is playing like trash... self explanatory
3. Tyson Chandler is getting abused... how did he make 1st defensive team this year?
4. Raymond Felton is not playing consistent enough or agressive enough
5. Mike Woodson is doing a terrible job making adjustments... Novak and Copeland should be getting much more playing time considering how bad JR Smith has been playing. At least they would be more efficient offensively and could open things up for Melo
Add all of this with Melo being an average defender (matching up with Paul George and David West), and having no other legitimate scoring option, Melo is forced to take ill advised shots. Hell, even when he tried to take less shots in game 3 (16), the rest of the team didn't step up. And people are acting like Melo isn't grabbing boards.... He's leading his team this series in boards. He's grabbed 9, 11, 5, and 9 boards. Tyson Chandler has grabbed 3, 4, 5, and 10 boards. That's unacceptable.
Is Melo a flawed player?... Yes. But when the players around him at least do their jobs, he's top 5 in the league. When they don't, he drops down to top 10-15 because he can't be efficient with his type of game, when a team can focus on him alone.
His problem is that he's not Lebron James. He can't pass like Lebron, he's not as athletic as Lebron, and he can't play defense like Lebron. But neither can anyone else in this league. Kevin Durant tries to play like Lebron and gets turnover after turnover. If Melo could just get a LEGITIMATE and HEALTHY second option... he would be worlds better on a consistent basis.

Should've stayed in Denver....

in but he really should have. He could have hit his 3 or 4 last second shots and gave Bron a couple of good runs in the regular season to boost his "clutch with so much heart" rep and then faded to Bolivia after the first round with no fukks given. But he wanted the spotlight and now he's got it. What's funny is, it seems like his fans are taking it harder than him.
It's excuse making season for Melo brehs, shyt is painfully obvious now. You got Knicks nikkaz writing dissertations & essays on why Melo should be absolved of any blame for his playoff failures AGAIN despite having ONE game in this series where he met his season average. Have other Knicks players played poorly? Yes. But it ain't like Melo has been lighting it up either
Never seen this much plea copping for a "superstar" player. shyt is laughable![]()
Would there really be a "Does Melo deserve this much credit" thread if the Knicks were up 3-1? Would the same nikkas going on and on about everybody else be as focused on everybody else?Superstar, high profile players take the majority of the heat for L's and get the majority of credit for W's. I have no problem with that as long as people are consistent. I do take issue with nikkas tryna have it both ways though.
No matter how you spin it both AI and Amare were legtimate second options. The fact that AI and Melo's games didn't mesh is their fault. That doesn't mean AI wasn't a legitimate second option.at a second option with a first option mentality and production being a bad thing. Amare wasn't hurt that first year they were together were he and Melo turned a 5th seed into a 6th seed. He and Melo played in enough games together last year to muster more than a 7th seed. He's actually played his best as a Knick and the team has played their best as well without Amare. The fact that they haven't been able to really mesh their games either is a negative reflection on them.
His inability to step out of his "scoring machine" mentality and the fact that he should pass more and the fact that he doesn't consistently bring intensity on D all give fuel to the criticism that you are claiming is unfair. Are you not seeing that?
at yet another Chris Paul reference. nikkas sound like kindergarteners on some "He did it too" type shyt. Melo just starting catching shyt in this, his 10th season. CP3 just finished his 8th. How much shyt was Melo taking a couple years ago?
The problem is he's not scoring though. This nikka has reached his season average just once in 4 games against Indy and has shot over 40% just once and not so coincidentaly that is the only game they have won. Games 1 and 3 were both winnable if Melo actually plays like the best scorer in the game. I could see if the nikka was out here balling and the team was losing but this nikka is 6'8, 250 putting up AI percentages and nikkas acting like
"Why is he catching heat?".
Superstars catch shyt for coping L's, especially when they don't play like superstars.
... How about the entire team was gutted to get Melo there. Then Amare and Billups didn't even play in the playoffs. His next best options were Toney Douglas and Bill Walker!!
First of all.... What do you want me to say? I already said that Melo is flawed. You're acting like I'm trying to defend his flaws. NO! I said he's flawed and that's it. I said he's not as good as Lebron, I gave him some blame for how poorly they are performing.
It's like you're mad that I won't blame it ALL on Melo. At least Melo is playing consistent. Consistently average... but consistent. Noone else on that team has been consistent at all... Not one person.
Then you try to take my statement and turn it into something else. I said LEGITIMATE AND HEALTHY. You take legitimate and act like I didn't say healthy. Amare is eliminated simply because he's been in and out of the lineup since Melo got there. Add to that, no player is going to be themselves when they first get back from an injury. Furthermore, even if we eliminate how well players fit together, Melo has had a legitimate and healthy second option TWICE in his career. Melo and AI just didn't work. Melo and Billups went to the WCF. So what are you really saying?
Turned a 5th seed into a 6th seed?... How about the entire team was gutted to get Melo there. Then Amare and Billups didn't even play in the playoffs. His next best options were Toney Douglas and Bill Walker!!
Last year Melo and Amare were both hurt for significant portions of the season, They had a terrible coach in D'Antoni, and the moment the coaches switched, the Knicks went 18-5. So what are you really saying? Then Amare hurts himself for the playoffs AGAIN!! And Shumpert rips his knee apart... The Baron Davis rips his knee apart... and flimsy Tyson Chandler has his yearly flu...
I give most of the blame to Mike Woodson... you have to be able to see who's working and who isn't. He's so stubborn, the team repeatedly falls into the same traps.
Need more rebounding... try playing Camby some if he's healthy. Hell, play Earl Barron. JR Smith isn't scoring, put in Novak or Copeland. RUN SOME PLAYS!!!!!
I'm honestly starting to see what these ATL idiots were talking about with Woodson. Add that to the fact the they just can't make shots. They can't win. If I had to hand out blame for this series I'd do it this way...
Woodson - 30%
JR - 20% (He's letting his horrible play compound by continuing to chuck and iso, and not playing a lick of defense)
Melo - 15%
Chandler - 15%
Rest of the Knicks - 20%
at the lengths nikkas are willing to go to for this nikka. "The whole team was gutted to get him there when he could've just signed as a FA and they proceeded to drop a playoff spot after he arrived." is a defense of Melo in your mind.
Think about that for a minute.
No anger my friend. I don't want you to do anything. My only point is that many of the same nikkas taking issue with Melo taking superstar blame wouldn't have such a problem with him getting superstar credit. I never denied the variety of issues that go into a team winning or losing. I am only addressing the fact the inconsistency anding.

Spin it how you wish but Melo and Amare played enough together to get more than a 7th seed last year. Yeah Antoni sucked but according to you so does Woodson and they won 54 with him this year with Melo and Amare both missing more games than they did last year. Melo and Amare, if they are the franchise guys they are purported to be and the east is as weak as it's purported to be, should be enough for more than a damn 7th seed. There's no way around that.
. He lost all of his shooters and wing players and his point guard in the trade.... freaking idiot. Let me remind you Toney Douglas and Bill Walker. Melo isn't a GM... he can't make anyone do anything. That was stupid on the part of the Knicks organization not to just wait. I'm sure Melo wasn't aware every single piece that the Knicks were going to have to give up. Matter of fact, wasn't like Wilson Chandler thrown in at the last minute to get the deal done?
Even if he did know... his expectations were probably that the Knicks would retool their roster the following year, after all they did have a core of himself, Amare, and Billups. Little did he know Billups would be gone within the year and Amare would be Mr. Glass...
The reason they ended up the 7th seed was because D'Antoni tried to run an offense that wouldn't work for the team he had. Melo can't play point-forward. He lost all of his shooters and wing players and his point guard in the trade.... freaking idiot. Let me remind you Toney Douglas and Bill Walker.
These nikkas were playering Toney Douglas, Bill Walker, Melo, Jared Jeffries, and Gadzuric(I think), at the end of the season. If you want to talk about the people who suck him off and think he's on the same level as Lebron, be my guest. But you don't even seem to be able to look at things in context. It's like ya'll think that just because someone is a superstar, they should automatically make it to the conference finals, regardless of the situation.
Of all the superstars, not named Lebron, Melo has probably been on more lackluster teams than any other player. This his probably his second quality team he's been on in his career, and they're all pissing the bed right now..
Melo has had more than his fair share of talent. It's a knock on him (as well as them) that the two most talented guys he's ever played with (AI and Amare) he wasn't able to find a way to mesh with. He's in a Bron in Cleveland-type circumstance now no doubt. I've actually made that comparison before. Melo has a regular season squad around him. However him shooting < 40% and taking 25-30 shots certainly isn't helping.bu-bu-but his teammates
39% shooting
17 assists
25 turnovers
the teammates excuse is only valid if the best player is balling.
