Real question Knickstape nation. You get 24 seconds every shot clock.

Last night vs the thunder with 5 athletic players save for Kurt Thomas on the court at all times, the knicks were very active and playing more uptempo ball, and getting some good looks.

Melo in the beginning of the year was more focused on keeping in the flow of the offense. As of late though, he's been holding the ball a lot. Him taking the ball up the court alone puts the offense at a disadvantage IMO. He holds the ball 6-10 seconds usually trying to decide what to do. When you give someone else the ball though they are moving immediately. Amare gets the ball and burns 5 seconds at most. Chandler goes up immediately or passes. Felton is going towards the basket most of the time.

Melo stalls alot.

What do they do to remedy this?

There is no remedy for it until Melo recognizes that style wont work. He's not good enough to be the guy he wants to be...shooting a team to a chip....no one is.

Melo's problem dont end with him just needing the ball in his hands a lot... his defense is and has always been doo-doo

Yes

Carmelo is the most overrated player in the nba.As soon as that clown tripped over his own feet and left the cavs game the knicks went on a 10-0 run and out scored the cavs 57-32 the rest of the game

He should be on the trade block this summer if the knicks want to win

Could be the Ewing Theory?

Melo buys into the whole team concept but if guys aren't hitting shots or become reluctant to shoot what is Melo to do?

Without Melo last couple games the ball movement has returned but I think that says more about players stepping up more than Melo.

Hes a hell of a scorer but a very ugly player to watch if you actulaly like team basketbal with ball movement cuttnig etc

Though there mostly young cats here who grew up in the iso era an probably prefer that to actually team basketball

They have the 4th rank offense in the league. Dont see like much problem to me. A high efficient offense at a lower pace is always better than high efficient offense at a fast.

Its just that nigguh JR Smith sometimes forgets this.....

Its a huge compliment to the team when a squad can play two styles of play good. Its not Melo fault when the game pace changes and it doesnt benefit his style of play(not to say that Melo cant play at the pace). That falls moreso on the coaching staff and the substitution package he has on the floor that help dictate and compliment the players style of play he has on the floor. If that makes any senese. Case in point, Stat has always played well at a faster tempo, so when he's on the floor put him in a package that help compliment that tempo. Shumpert and Kidd really play that pace well, so send them on the floor with Stat and maybe Copeland since he's an active energy player.

Melo has always struggled with holding onto the ball for too long his whole career. Even on those uptempo Nuggets teams, he still found a way to be a black hole on offense. That's the main reason Durant gets more praise than Melo even though in essence they do the same thing which is score a lot of points. Only difference is Durant scores the ball without using too much possessions.
