The Ghost of Jack Tripper
Definitely.
That's without question.
That's without question.
Pac came in the game via the Bay. Tbh you can make an argument for him as an NYC cat, a Bay cat, or an LA catWhy are nikkas saying Pac that nikka wasnt no Bay artist, he was based in LA.
This is not about nationwide impact, its about BAY AREA impact. Spice 1 is hardly an honorable mention, yall just like the way he rap. JT has arguably done more for the Bay than anybody from the Bay not named Too $hort. Like I said, JT laid a blueprint for Bay Area artist to remain prolific AND independent; and he pushed unity amongst Bay Area artist more than anybody. JT is absolutely over Spice 1 and its not arguable unless you either dont like the nikka or just dont know what the fukk you talking about.Dudes really in here suggesting JT Tha Bigga Figga, Ant Banks, Del The Funky Homosapien, Keak Da Sneak and won't just say "yeah... it's Spice." We're talking the actual Mt. Rushmore... the biggest factors in impact and legacy... yes the Bay is full of genius talent, and dudes mentioned above definitely were vital to the Bay. If it's just 4 rappers including Pac, then there ain't no room for anyone else but him, Short, 40, Spice, You could argue Hammer (or Mac Dre) in Spice's place, but Hammer had a very short run, it was just a monumental short run. Mac Dre was super influential at one point and had a whole movement, but was never major, so it's a tough call. Spice 1 was still putting out albums on Jive for 10 years and going gold every time. I agree about JT being a factor for sure, but his impact just wasn't as major as Spice. When NYers discuss and generalize 'West Coast gangsta rap'... a lot of them East Coast old heads are gonna say shyt like "Spice 1 and them West Coast nikkas..." His impact was nationwide, videos in top 10 Rap City and Yo! MTV Raps. Every album he released for a 10 year span was on a major label. JT never even got on a major... farthest he made it was a Priority Records P&D deal... and that's not knockin' him, he was just a big time independent dude.
Let's be real... based on nationwide and worldwide impact, not just local Bay indie shyt... Real Mt. Rushmore lineup possibilities can only be:
2Pac
Too Short
E-40
Spice 1
Mac Dre
Hammer
Easily.... you can make an argument he made the most classic hip hop songs outta the Bay.
Both should be on thereNo. Objectively speaking JT takes his spot, Figg was a HUGE factor as far as Bay Area rap goes. The Bay Area Mt Rushmore is 40, Short, JT and Mac Dre. Spice 1 is an honorable mention, maybe.
