This thread is interesting. There has been countless complaints about the lack of "combat" awards received by African Americans. I'm assuming everyone here is AA(at least the majority). Not too many brothers are going after the combat roles anymore.

That's the quickest way to make rank. On the enlisted side as an infantryman, it is very possible to make E-6 in four years. It's a mentality thing and I completely understand because so many are choosing to come in for education purposes. Even if that's your intention if you give the Army what it needs, it'll give you what you need. Stop looking at it as a "job". Those who look at it as a "job", a paycheck are the ones who have a tough time. It's a lifestyle. PT, Weapons, Boards. That's the Army on the enlisted side. If you have no negative information from your past, if you pick a support MOS, pick one with a security clearance. That will make you more attractive. 3 or 4 years in you can apply for a MOS on the BEAR programs(endangered MOS list) and get a huge bonus. It's all about working hard and not looking at "when your getting out".
To the poster who said he was called "c00n" and other disparaging words. With all due respect that is your fault. That good ol boy system only exists because sucka ass suckas are afraid to speak their minds. IG complaints, EO complaints are all there for you to file. If you ever allow someone to disrespect you like that without them losing pay, being reprimanded of some sort then you a sucka.
