That’s not how definitions work.
When you think of mathematics you can go one way for a conclusion and you can also start from your conclusion and work your way backwards. For example, 1 * 2 = 2. In reverse 2 / 2 = 1.
Think of the sentence that starts with “men” and end with “themselves”. Can you work that sentence backwards and end up where you originally began?

I actually think @Jhoon has sort of a point. The quote in the op sounds a bit weird out of context.
In the other thread I was arguing that just because a man loves himself doesn't mean women will love him.
My example was a fat guy being okay with his weight is fine, but it won't mean anyone will care.
No one else really cares how we feel about ourselves.
Love yourself for the sake of it--not as a defense mechanism or to prove a point to anybody.
