no. i think we got another 08 coming
What's that mean?
Yes. The video game industry is headed into some scary times and youd have to be blind not to see it.

The AAA market cannot keep going as is. Theres less and less games, studios being shut down constantly because just 1 flop can close its doors. DLC is becoming more and more obnoxious and over priced. Games are consistently being shipped broken so they can create cash income to finish games.

Studios have to rely more and more on remasters to create income.

I'll tell you this, if you don't like indies you're in for a rough time.

The budgets for games have become so bloated that the markets going to crash under its own weight.

Bigger budgets with failure for closure at a flop equals the painfully stale market we are in. No risks are being taken. Games all feel and look the same. The only creativity is in the indie space right now.
Good points. Do you have a solution?

I'm only playing mk10 and hardline right now (bf4 still is better) my bf4 and nba2k15 collecting dust. I'ma only cop the digital copies of my games from now on.
Don't do it!

No, I think once more indie studios are viable/successful , we'll start to see them produce more ps2 (maybe even PS3)looking 3d games (in hd)as they gain more captiol and can afford to do a little more. Also, the tools to produce 3d gfx will have decreased. This is really the first gen were the focus has truly been on indie development (for consoles) with more indie friendly practices from the big three.

I sort of see it like the movie industry honesty, yea you have your franchises and comic book movies releasing every year, but because of lowered cgi/tech costs (over the years), indies and smaller film houses are able to put out a decent picture as well, just with less spectacle more heart and substance.

I would really like to see big developers lend out there ips to some indie developers to get a fresh take on classic series. I think it's bound to happen sooner or later. Basica

Also, crowd funding seems to be an ever increasing concept that developers are using to make the fans put their money where their mouth is. "Hey you said you wanted me to make this game, well I can do it even if my publisher won't fund it, you can" as we've seen with "mighty no 9" and "lookah laylee"

Lastly, I'm hoping virtual reality is that next frontier in creative development that brings back the simple, daring and fun nature of the ps1/2 era. Because the tech will be so young tthe expectations won't be high and the focus will have to be in gameplay as the gfx will be constrained, much like the early days of 3d console development.

Or at least that's what I hope.

I would LOVE to see indie studios get a crack at ips. You see it happen here and there. For example sly cooper 4.

But studios like capcom are just sitting on ips for no reason. Well. Lack of funds is a reason.

Too many reports of dude's accounts being hacked and them losing the ability to play their digital games
Eh, never had that issue wasn't even a worry. Xbox live gon fix it anyways if that were to happen. Digital is much better especially when the actual game is installed on my harddrive its nothing to worry about. The purchase was made I can always re download. So much easier to switch between games.

shut up p*ssy nerd, nobody give a fukk about hackers stealing their games. only little kids who have a weekly allowance.

:deadmanny:

Someone up that thread of dude who lost everything when he was hacked

Wasn't the victim of that doing something to his account that he wasn't supposed to do?

As long as @MCHZE isn't game sharing or exposing account info he should be straight. The only thing he has to worry about is not being able to refund ass games or losing purchased games that aren't on his hard drive when their servers are decomissioned.

People are starting to realize that modern AAA games are :flabbynsick:.

Indie's got the juice now.:smugdraper:
Exactly.

Indie games have to break out of the 2d platformer shell they've placed themselves in though. Some are cool but when thats the majority of it

For now we're still okay. Lots of dope AAA games to come in the next 12 months. But yeah, the mid-sized publisher is being phased out. In five years, it'll probably be

EA
Activison
Ubisoft
Bethesda
Warner Bros
Square Enix
Take Two
Namco
Blizzard
Valve

Konami looks like it's finished. Capcom is probably gonna get weaker or get bought out. Take Two I can see being bought out my Actvision or some shyt.

Warner Bros, I like em, hope they stick around. It's good having a powerful movie studio on the games industry. I hope Disney tries stepping into the game again.
