Does the Junior Seau suicide make you think of the Chris Beniot situation differently

Seau committed suicide for no known reasons, but the consensus seems to be it's due to the damage his brain received from playing football. you also have last year Dave Duerson who committed suicide and left a note asking for his brain to be used for research. These stories reek of Beniot and why someone would do something so drastic, so fukking crazy.

Benoit and his wife had problems in the past. Their son, Daniel had some sort of disease. He was demoted from the Four Horsemen to ECW (jokes)... But seriously, you can't just blame brain damage.

As for Seau, who knows what he was depressed about, but I read up enough on Benoit to know that it's not as black and white as brain damage. Go read Ring of Hell and Chris & Nancy.

People commit suicide all the time. In some cases they're mentally unstable, but some people just don't want to live anymore.

If Benoit killing his family can just be chalked up to "brain damage", then tons more people with brain damage would be killing their kids.

Brain trauma leading to depression and suicide, I can see. There are many documented cases of that among former athletes. I can't think of many other cases of ex-athletes strangling their children, though.

I don't necessarily disagree because I can't fathom murdering anyone, but if that was the case, everyone on death row or doing consecutive life sentences in prison would be locked up in mental hospitals instead.

At the time the Benoit situation happened, the "brain damage" theory that came out seemed to me like a way for marks to defend their hero and excuse his actions. Now that this has happened and all the findings from Chris Nowinski's institute have come out I'm more believing that brain damage led Benoit to kill himself/family.

I don't think some of you understand mental illness. Do you realize ur brain controls EVERY aspect of EVERYTHING you do? EVERYTHING. You couldn't blink your eyes or unconsciously turn over in ur sleep without ur brain.

The way we all see the world is 'normal' for us.

Same goes for mentally sick ppl....they consider themselves normal in most cases. They live in their mind world just as you do. Why do you think other people have to committ them to mental hosptials? They wont committ themselves b/c they don't know they're crazy. I've worked at a mental hospital before. You ask one of the patients if they're "crazy" and they will tell you "no".

In Benoit's case, it was probably a slow undetected process that kept building until one day he snapped, his mind went over the edge and never came back. That happens.

99.9% percent of ppl who kill their families aren't right in the head.
That's not a natural/normal human action.

Not saying Benoit was a saint, but there's a big line between being a jerk and being a homicidal/suicidal killer.
