Why offer Parsons this much when al-farouq aminu is younger, healthier and gives you similar production on a 4/30 contract. Some of these GMs have to be mentally retarded. Parsons just had micro fracture surgery, rarely anyone comes back successfully from that injury.

And the bolded answers OPs question...NBA GMs are in fact dumb as hell

Are you calling Neil Olshey dumb. Are you going to sit there and say Mitch Kupchak doesn't understand basketball and how to run an organization.

I'm not the biggest Parsons fan myself, but if they want him and feel he can help them improve significantly that is the price it'll take to sign him. In this cap climate that is what Chandler Parsons is worth because the market dictates such.

This past season, Mozgov saw his role significantly reduced. He averaged 6.3 points and 4.4 rebounds during the regular season and just 1.2 points in 5.8 minutes during the postseason, which saw him play a combined 25 minutes in the Cavs' seven-game Finals win over the Warriors.

Mozgov turns 30 on July 16.

If they gave a former third option coming off microfracture surgery 24 million a year when they have a younger, healthier player with a more recent resume of serviceability right there to play the same role for less money, then yes I will sit there and call them dumb. All these GM biting on the first number a mediocre player's agent pulls out his ass are making dumb moves.

When Portland passes OKC, SAS, and GS with Parsons as a solid role player, I'll be wrong. When Parsons doesn't pan out and they are trying to shop his bad contract by All-Star break 2018, my stance that Neil Oshey and Kupchak and whoever else made a dumb move will stand. Period.

Why can't they play both together. That's what happened in Dallas and they were a good combination.

His health is a concern, but these are the type of risks you have to take as a franchise that historically doesn't attracts marquee free agents but still wants to make significant improvements to the roster. The cap is set to increase again next season so they're offering him this deal with that in mind, and hoping he can stay healthy because he's a good fit when so.

Do you have any suggestions as to how Portland can surpass any of those teams. You got a gameplan to do so, something that Neil Olshey hasn't contemplated and thought over himself. I'm just saying you and a lot of other people need to chill about acting like these guys don't know the game and understand how business works.

Who else are they gonna get when no one is taking meetings with them? You can say throw the max at a player like Biyambo but if he ain't willing to meet with you then you guys move on to someone who will. They have to spend the money to reach the cap floor. This isn't rocket science :snoop:
