There have been MANY “Faces Of African Americans” in sports and black culture that weren’t hood at all.
The two BIGGEST athletes of all time are Muhammad Ali and Michael Jordan and they were as far from hood as it gets.

The question in the topic wasn’t if the “Hood” embraced these people it was are “Hood nikkas”’always going to be the face of African American sports or pop culture.
NONE of the athletes listed have a “Hood” persona or are marketed as such. Michael Jordan is a black man with a universal appeal. He’s as far from Hood as it gets. Same for Tiger Woods. The question isn’t if these people themselves are
in their personal lives or views its how they are marketed as black athletes.I threw Tiger in because he’s traditionally seen as “Black” even though he has demonstrated perverse self hating qualities.
Everyone else I named are undeniably black and therefore representations of athletes who are have been faces of popular culture without a “Hood” vibe attached to them
