I have a question for people that keep asking these dumbazz questions.. If no one in the south listened to NY hip hop, THEN WHAT THE FUKK WERE WE LISTENING TO IN THE 80S????? . I know it may be hard to believe to some of you, but hip hop has been around for a long time. I was listening to hip hop in 1984 as a 7 year old IN THE SOUTH. Does anyone believe we didn't have radio, BET, and record stores in the south? wtf

when all them east coast nikkas was dancing..in the beginning making dance music wearin polka dots n gumbies..

. how u gone hate on shyt thats for the clubs and hoes..n lil kids..

East coast had to grow OUT OF THAT or else Hip Hop would be Disco status.

The south stagnate their own sound and now no major networks want to host awards shows for newer artists anymore because if the lack of talent lyrically and stage presence wise

I can’t say now but growing up this was true. There were exceptions, specifically Biggie.

Where I grew up (Lowcountry SC), that wasn't true AT ALL. But there is a HUGE connection of lowcountry people and NYC so maybe just different in my area of the south. Lots of NYC cats had Carolina roots/people, so it wasn't really a thing like that. But the generations after mine definitely focused less on NYC rap as I get older.
