It's not based on my viewing history. It recommends a bunch of channels that I never have and never will watch. Like I said, all the Black channels are in my subscriptions page but don't appear on the home page.

Not really. YouTube observes what you watch and recommends stuff like it. If you watch a lot of black content it's gonna recommend more like it.

It's still based off what people watch. It's just not personalized recommendations based off groups of people's personalized ones.

YouTube simply wants your engagement. I watched The Matrix trailer the other day and it's pushing a bunch of Matrix videos at me now.

No. I have a second sub-account from the Google+ days though. When I watch stuff I know will recommend spoilers after I use that. Also it's for YouTube Music so it doesn't tie my main account up with music video recommendations.
