Very bold for WWE to do the old quick match Goldberg routine in this day and age. Wrestling character wise it makes sense, but in reality does it really? We live in a more reality based wrestling world. The lines are blurred for the vocal fans. People aren't seeing this as a dominant force. They are seeing this as an old guy coming in and beating a current star. And old guy who is having quick matches because the truth is, he can't work a long match anymore. Doesn't help either that he's WCW bred with a very little relevance to WWE history. Of course, there are fans who dont care about any of that shyt and thats well and good. I honestly wish more fans would buy into the other side more but those days are long gone. And with the influence of the internet it just intensifies. People worry more about part timer this, putting people over that and not more into the story being told or the wrestling bubble of it all. Im surprised that they have milked it for this long but Im not too sure the future looks bright. Im sitting back and taking it all in. Berg is my dude, but I'd be lying if this isnt risky as hell. Hes gotten surprisingly good reactions which says a lot about time and nostalgia. But it can only go so far.

I expect this to be the turning point of Goldberg. Smarks turned on him and the novelty is starting to wear off for them judging by the online reactions. The funny thing is, I expect an anti Goldberg and pro Brock lesnar crowd at Mania. Which is hilarious all the way around because its the same situation. Boo the part timer Goldberg who beat the full time talent but cheer the part time Brock who does the same thing and will surely disappear with the title like he did in 2014. Brock will get heel heat too but I dont think both men will be getting a 2004 flashback.

Owens can salvage this by using his loss as a reason to blame Jericho and his friendship and lists for ruining his title reign. He can say because of Jericho he was soft but now hes destroying everyone. He really needs to destroy a heavy fan favorite like Jack Gallagher to exclaim that point.

Nikkas still hating on Goldberg.:hhh:

Goldberg brings in the bread for the company & he is a legend.

Plus he's in better shape than someone like a ko who gets fatter by the day or Finn balor who's vanilla midget status.

The iwc are a minority part of the wwe audience. Not the majority. That's why their self centered behavior is so laughable.:heh:

You had people on this site that thought Goldberg was gonna get booed at survivor series. That's how delusional their mindsets are.:mjlol:

Kevin is the first guy I ever seen get more out of shape when he gets a title. Anyways, it just doesn't make sense for Kevin or any of the people KO beat. They always tell these guys to get over like the 90's guys. Always say reach for the brass ring. Yet, they can only do what they did in such a small box, and every time they get going some part timer squashes them. Those old fukks limped down the ring last WM, and washed 7 guys for cheap WM pop. They can have their own program without feeding them younger talent.

He's over, he brings in good money but I hated that shyt when I watched it.

I know some of you will shyt on me for saying so but I feel like this fukks with the title and even though they will find a way to make Owens look strong it makes him look dumb as fukk.

Goldberg/Lesnar doesn't need the belt, they could have done this shyt where Lesnar just comes out and beats Goldberg's ass causing him to lose the match and book the Mania match as a Hell in The Cell or something.

Let Owens keep the belt and have Jericho turn on him (from what I have read that's what looks like they're going to do) in the coming weeks and have him challenge for the title. Three of those four men are going to be gone after Mania anyway so why wouldn't you build up the one who will be there for the long haul.

I know that the "legends" are great for Mania but they need be an attraction not THE attraction. In 10 or 15 years who are they going to have that can do what Goldberg and Lesnar are doing now if they aren't building them as so?

you worried about the prestige of a fake title? :mjlol:

the wrasslers make the title, the title itself is just a paperweight

Even if the crowd turns on Goldberg and cheered Lesnar over the next 4 weeks to mania this experiment was a success. We live in a fast moving world that thrives off unpredictability

Bill was about 225ish weight wise in a lot of his Muay Thai vids he'd post on Instagram so I wasn't on board with him coming back as a closer to normal sized guy because a lot of his myth came from appearance. He recaptured a lot of his prime aura and deserves props.

His merch moves, they've been smart about limiting his interactions since he's clearly limited but only hardcore give a shyt about that. Casuals just like seeing their faves.

dude looks the part, is still explosive In doses, can talk without totally embarrassing himself and from most accounts outside of the ring he's a good guy.

So yeah it works. It was never meant to be a solution to anything but it's helpful to a mania that clearly needs his star

Plus you can sell Mattel elite Goldberg figures with the belt to further monetize this time period

I'm more worried about them building superstars who in 10-15 years can do what Goldberg, Lesnar, Rock etc do today. After Kurt Angle what other wrestlers can you see doing part time appearances that will draw money... I will wait.

WWE has tried to build superstars, but they just aren't over, most are worried about stupid social media likes and wonder why they come out to crickets because no one buys their character anymore

Major stars like Lesnar and Goldberg are rare, if they can still go (which they can, Lesnar is the best alive), then it's stupid business to not put the title on them and give them the biggest programs
