I really was hoping he'd drop some weight coming into the season cause his quickness is gone and the times I've seen him get the ball in the low post he's been too predictable and ends up shooting a contested fadeaway cause nobody's scored of him blowing past them on a drive and can play him tight.

His first step is actually still good, his problem is he has no vertical so the defense always recovers when he goes up for the layup.

If Melo was still deadly serious and laser focused on the game he'd get stronger, lean up a little and become a factor in the post. He's a legitimate 6'8" and could extend his effectiveness offensively by becoming a power 4 with long range ability.

Melo just trying to get his paper and ride this thing out until teams won't mess with him anymore, then he'll call it a career.
