Y'all haven't heard of the Bundy Ranch Standoff? 2nd Amendment worked there.

Of course.
The point isn't that they'd have a chance at success...it's that it would be that much more of an annoyance.
With the second amendment, a truly disruptive and revolutionary military force that is hell-bent on a coup will do what the fukk they want.
But a less organized and less motivated benevolent military? One that would act only if the opportunity presented itself?
They would probably hesitate.

Think about the second amendment as pepper spray.
The citizen is the 18 year old girl.
A sadistic sex-crazed rapist is going to attack in her on the dark street regardless.
But a horny & dangerous creep looking to fall into vulnerable p*ssy? He may see that pepperspray keychain attachment on the purse and do risk/reward like, "is it worth getting pepper sprayed and scratched up? Nah, fukk it."

Also, under tyranny at this point

Tyranny? seriously?
You must be working at a 9-5 job you dont like with sucky pay if u talking like this.
Tyranny?
Put em overseas they be begging to come back - Ice Cube
How is the disjointed US military Thanos?Terrible analogy
A better analogy would be
US citizens = 18 year old girl
2nd amendment = pepper spray
US military = Thanos with all 5 infinity stones. Mixed with Darkseid.

and all of the gun owning US citizens resisted giving up their guns...
I'm going from memory and it's been a about 3 years since I've gone over American Political Theory and like 8 or 9 since history so I'm sure I'm missing some key details. I just know that they were really averse to a tyrannical government which is why government is structured the way it is and why certain rights were points of emphasis. I'm not familiar with English common law.@Obreh Winfrey
Respect.
But, you're incorrect.
Personal self-defense was a significant part of the DNA of the second amendment.
The Second Amendment being inspired and partially based on the right to bear arms as meant in English common law is a non-debatable issue.
It's just not talked about as much because that's clear cut. The "militia" element is what has this debate constantly enflamed.
Exactly.Lots of assumptions being made. You dont know where one particular soldier's sympathies lie. Also, some of us vets have taken away many lessons from places like Fallujah in 04, Mosul a few years later, Afghanistan, etc.
This is a piss poor excuse to try to remove my right to bear arms. Those hicks and hilljacks camped in trees can wreak havoc. Too many Tim Mcveighs or DC shooters to think that this would be some sort of cake walk. Then there is the issue of proximity.
Also, in my mind the threat would not come from a military coup. The threat would come from radical left wing ideologues who somehow found their way into a supermajority in government.
Cosign.fail to understand the difference between taking and holding territory, brehs.
think that domestic military actions wouldn't cause divisions within the military itself, brehs.
Imagine if the governor of a state called the national guard to come shut a town down.
Really, what you gonna do?
Remember David Koresh who was out there minding his own business in his super compound.
What did they do?
