Bubba the Atkita mix faces being euthanized after he became aggressive when taken from his abusers’ home to a shelter. According to Local10, rescue staff say he cannot be safely adopted, with prosecutor Amy Ferrin telling a court ‘Bubba is not doing well at all.’

She spoke at the sentencing hearing for his owner Frederick Manzanares, 51, which saw the animal abuser sentenced to six months in jail. Despite his mistreatment of Bubba, Manazares, of Aurora, Colo., pleaded with a judge to be allowed to try and help rehabilitate the animal at the same hearing Tuesday. But his request was refused, with Manazares also warned that he cannot keep a pet for the two years he must spend on probation after being released from jail.
The dog abuser’s ex-girlfriend Janette Solano, was handed a 24 month suspended sentence at the same hearing after admitting a single count of animal cruelty. She blew the whistler on her former partner in March 2017, calling cops to report how Manazares had been pressuring her into having sex with Bubba.

During a subsequent search of the couple’s home cops found photos and videos of Solano having sex with the animal in a specially-built chamber that housed a red bench. Investigators also discovered a special hormone spray Manazares would use to get the dog aroused before he and Solano abused it. Manazares, who was convicted of bestiality, is also said to have made Solano jealous with his closeness to Bubba.
