Does this guy Diamonds produce? How can he diss Darkside? Weird move. Podcasts arn't hip hop. They're more gossip.

That is strictly a MY OPINION moment cause Redman freestyles are dope. His single Slap You & America is dope. His opinion is trash as fk!

Fool sound like the Mad Rapper.

First off, Doggie Diamonds is a fukkin hater. Now that we got that out the way, I somewhat agree with his take on 9th Wonder and totally disagree with the shyt he said about Redman's old albums. His new shyt is iffy but he got multiple classics under his belt, Dare Iz A Darkside being one of them.

My issue with Redman's recent music has always been his beat selection and pop culture references every bar. Where's the lyricism? Expand your subject matter. His rhymebook probably looks like my TV guide. Switch it up. Also production is one of the easiest things to fix in 2024. You got random people on TIktok making some of the most immaculate shyt you ever heard. It's literally a scroll away. Anyway, Red is a legend. He clearly still has that hunger but he needs a fresh sound. I would love for him to lock in with producers like Conductor or V Don and do a whole tape.

Thank you bro.

My bad, I judged to quickly before knowing his history.

I know him from online. I didn't know he put all that work in.

Is that Kim as in Lil Kim?

Word. I never knew he was THAT credible.

He's been humble for so long. That's powerful.

I remember liking his podcasts.

I was just taken aback by what he said about Redman.

I can understand why he said it tho.

I love Redman's first three albums the most. He wants what alot of us want to hear - hardcore Redman.

9th beats are awful now

I don’t know why we have to act like we love his new records cause he’s “hip hop” and he made good beats 20 years ago for LB.

Doggie Diamonds is clearly hating but he not wrong. Had a similar conversation with my boy a couple weeks back who tried to say 9th is a better producer than Alchemist :mjlol:

Ngga what beats :heh:

As if 9th has been active. The last beat I know he did was Duckworth and it’s a timeless classic

I dig, Redman's weakness is similar to Cam's. Its the production. Cuase they both spit like hell. shyt Redman featured on other artists shyt with proper beats is always :fire:

Redman is one of my goats. So I completely disagree with his take on the old Redman music

But I’d be lying if I said I liked a Redman song in the last 15 years. Damn near 20 years if we being fully honest.

Yeah, Red’s old music is cemented among the greatest and your absolutely right, it’s been a really long since he’s made good music

Honestly, Malpratice was the first horrible Redman album and that was 2001; 23 years ago

Meh

The issue with Redman is his voice changed over the last 20 years from how it was in the 90s and it’s made it pretty unlistenable for me. I hate his new rap voice. And I haven’t liked his production in forever either.

That and even his references be outdated like a motherfukker a lot of times and when he does reference something relevant, it’s a weak or very corny punchline now.

The other problem is at some point his raps became way too reliant on basic similes leading into name drops/pop culture references. Like damn near every other bar. Thats a telltale sign of somebody who's run out of shyt to talk about.

That’s another factor too

Gang violence...
after he brought up the list of 1994 albums, i do have to say, DIADS is far out of the top 10 for that year. probably out of the top 25
