It's not a toss up. Ilmatic can't even fukk with Dogg Food, let alone Doggystyle. Crazy what 28 years of brainwashing can do :snoop:
Shiid Dog Food fye too but nah. N ain’t no brainwash I like what I like. Doggystyle production over Illmatic any day but that’s only 50% of the music and it’s not like Illmatic production is trash it’s just not on Doggystyle level imo and I’m not a big Jazz guy fr so it’s not gone resonate wit me like the Doggystyle samples. But when it comes to the other 50% of the music composition, when it comes to the lyrical side. Snoop not seeing Nas and it’s just simple as that. We ain’t gone act like an album wit One Love, Life’s a bytch, Memory Lane, The World is Yours ain’t hard and one of the greatest albums of all time.

There's no way to know how long it took to go plat, RIAA only starts the audit when the label pays for it.
They don't track it in real time. They never did.

You seriously think Nas, Search and the record label forgot to claim Illmatic as platinum right after it hit platinum?

“Hit hit platinum in 99 but we forgot to claim that”

:russ: Yea ok.

That shyt wasn't all that and it wasn't just production. Snoopy 's vocal performances are skyscrapers above nasir's. It's not even close.

Post some out of this world verses from the Nas songs you just named :jbhmm:

nikkas reaching like shyt. Snoop’s vocal performance is skyscrapers above Nas’ but Nas’ lyrics aren’t skyscrapers above Snoop’s? :ohhh:

And I was just listening to Doggystyle yesterday top 5 album shyt maybe top 3 but Snoop was biting. He bit Mr. 3-2 flow, vocal inflections and catch phrases plus aint Doc help him structure his shyt?

but as far as the lyrics go I already named songs. Every verse on them songs hit cause every verse on the album do but especially those. I’d love for you to name a harder verse lyrically off Doggystyle from Snoop than anything on Illmatic

Cap, pac is on film during the his time filming juice, getting at a bootleger on the east whom was seeking digital underground and a gang of other shyt. All commercial albums get bootlegged, before and after Illmatic. It's just corny excuses for illmatic's lack of draw during its initial run in retail. Bias media for it platinum after 7 years and many years after that, it finally hit double during the streaming era.
You can read my last post. My initial post was a question for clarity, ain't that invested like y'all in the Stan Wars. :yeshrug:

Murder was the case>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Lmaoo fye song but I was actually gone mention it in that post but erased it. Always irked me how he goes from basically being a vegetable in the hospital to getting fronted ki’s the next bar (I do get he had the wordplay tho “fronted me some ki’s to get back on my feet”). Also irked me how he randomly jumps to getting sent to prison in 3rd Verse I’m like tf u even do now Snoop u was living good at the end of verse 2 :mindblown:. Kinda nitpicking it’s still a great song but in comparison to Nas I feel like his story telling a lil more fleshed out and advanced. One Love>>>>>Murder Was the Case (talking strictly lyric wise and from a storytelling perspective, still think One Love might be the better song in general tho)

The answer is no. Nas wasn't really saying shyt to IWW came out. Illmatic is Nas predominantly rhyming in circles. I asked you to post some dope verses, clearly you refused, but you telling me to name snoop's hard verses. You seem confused. And yes snoop's vocal performances are light years above Nasir's. Not just the beats.

He writing his nikkas in jail keeping them up wit what’s going on in the hood n shyt not a beginning to end type story but I put it in the same line as story telling tracks. He made a letter a song n it wasn’t corny. Mobb Deep lowkey topped One Love wit Temperatures Rising that’s another thread for another time tho

Stop fronting, ya'll make excuses for illmatic all day.

shyt flopped, "oh it's bootleggers" "oh we haven't a clue when it went platinum". fukk outta here.
When gauging illmatic's performance, using the same metrics as other commercially released albums of the era, it's a flop. Enough of the excuses

Lil Wayne Secure 30 New Platinum Plaques

RIAA took 10-15 years to update 30 Lil Wayne songs and albums. Wayne, who is a much bigger artist than Nas.

Go to RIAA, search Lil Wayne. Check for the date September 25, 2020.
You think all those songs and albums magically went gold/plat the exact same day?
DKt04lZ.png

You think it took "The Carter", "Go DJ", etc. 15+ years to go gold/plat?
DKt04lZ.png

No. That's when they updated the certifications.

Which is what I said.

You cats are so wrapped up in Nas when this has nothing to do with him. RIAA does this for literally every artist.

Some certifications happen fast, some take years to update. Because of that, certification dates are notoriously inaccurate.

Fred.
