Just got a puppy a few weeks ago off Craigslist..mixed lab and some other shyt who knows. I’ve never been a huge pet person but my son had been wanting a dog so I got him.

Potty training’s been the biggest issue. He barely uses the pads in the house and when I take him outside he isn’t using it consistently either.

We got to the point where we let him chill in the garage mostly when he’s not playing and he’s been low key as far as barking and whining. But he’s still not using the pads and my wife is having to deep clean the garage.

It probably was a huge mistake not crating him or putting him in a play pen from the jump because he’s been free roaming. We put the play pen up and now he’s crying and whining nonstop :sadcam: will he get used to it?

I want to get rid of him but my wife seems to be attached and one of my sons also (not the son I got him for :why:)
You making things harder for yourself. You are the Alpha and he is gonna have to learn he can't roam freely around the house until he uses the bathroom PERIOD. He's a puppy so he'll have to be taught. That takes work. Your son wanted a dog send him and scrappy doo outside until it uses the bathroom.

I never even had to train my cat to use the litter. There's a code in its dna somewhere that tells it to not be like a dumb dog that will piss and shyt on everything in sight :wow:

You are a damn lie :russ:

Yall have to come up with all kinds of devices to keep your domesticated skunks from spraying piss and shyt on your furniture and appliances

Op going through it and this is the support he gets from droolset hq :laff:

@thaKEAF you should probably drop that dog off in the woods and tell your kids he went to live on a farm somewhere:hubie:

I locked my dog in her cage everyday when we first got her. She wasn’t allowed to come out unless we were putting her in the yard to use the bathroom. This was for about two weeks.

After that we let her out only when we could watch her closely. Anytime she got ready to use the bathroom we rushed her outside. Then it got to the point we only kept her in the cage overnight. Then she got to a point where we got rid of the cage. Maybe took 2 months :manny:

When we’re gone for hours and hours my dog goes to the side door soon as we walk in the house. She already knows. We even gave her own section of the yard .

This is all on you OP. No free feeding.

You’re going to have to get up at the ass crack of dawn, feed the puppy, then pick it up and take it outside, stand around with it, and neither of you comes inside until it pee’s and shyts.

Then you bring it in, give it a treat, and baby talk it like a mid-30’s aged white lady. Same for lunch and dinner.

If it chews up everything but it in a large cage that it can be a bedroom x safe space. Put it in the cage and give it a bunch of chew toys to play with, plus a treat. Eventually you’ll be able to leave the cage open and it will go in there to fukk shyt up. Everytime it chews up something you don’t want it too, take it to the cage and give it a chew toy. Before you take it out, give it a treat.

Start out letting it go to bed in the cage with a treat, eventually it will grow up and find its own bed to sleep in when it’s bed time, and won’t cry about not sleeping with one of y’all.

You are in the early stages. You have to create a routine that starts basically at dawn all the way to bedtime and be consistent with the times. Dogs need discipline and structure and make sure the entire family is involved in the upkeep particularly your children. It's all fun to play games and stuff with the puppy but it has to be balanced with the discipline and structure.

Plus you gotta research these breeds op. Labs can be real high energy, combined with whatever it’s mixed with. It will probably needs some pretty good walks to help it be calm while it’s inside. This also helps it empty its bladder and bowels.
