fukka DG, but I really think the convo is often incorrectly framed as "Why aren't you letting people steal from a multi-billion dollar company that you work for". It's the feeling of disrespect of someone not following the rules (paying for merchandise) in front of someone who is doing things the 'right' way even if they are sorely underpaid.

I'm someone who thinks corporations aren't people, and should be taxed at a very high level, but this recurring narrative that you should be able to steal from successful businesses w/o repercussions seems very-shortsighted and will lead to a worse society if left unchecked.
Nah these businesses are 100000x worse
Their not mom and pop stores

Society has bigger problems that ppl stealing, like random psychos shooting shyt up

I always wondered If shoplifting bothers them that much that they will attempt murder. Why not just change up the layout of the store and do it Pharmacy style, where a person behind a counter has to get everything for you?

People want things both ways, they want the customer to do all the work even ring themselves up now, but then get mad they can't trust people to abide by an honor system.

Pharmacy style, autozone style store is almost shoplifting proof for the things behind the counter. In ohio we have drivethurs where people grab your stuff for you too. Seems like a simple solution to me. Instead hiring security or chasing down thieves yourself.

every store innovation they come up these days with seems like it only makes it easier to steal shyt.

I think you’re right and not right. That point about the narrative is tough. I think it’s less about letting people steal and more about a multibillion dollar corporation finding a solution that’s better than their floor employees going Liam Neeson over Black Forest Ham and Wonderbread. None of us should be comfortable watching people steal, but why aren’t these corporations doing more to protect the integrity of their stores?

I hate thieves with a passion, but I always say NEVER risk your life over a thief if you are at work and someone comes in and steal. Just call the police and have them check the security cameras inside and outside of the place People are more unhinged these days and will kill with no remorse. Luckily this woman drove away with no harm done. Same with the Asian couple from last week at the nail salon. Shouldn't chase after people. It ain't worth it.

But both are dummies in this situation. And if she ain't making much at Dollar General, she can go work at Amazon, where they start at $15 to $17.50/hr. But people hate Amazon because Amazon actually makes you work and is strict on attendance. People hate that. Well that's life.

dollar general/family dollar/stores like that are the vultures that came to clean up in small towns after walmart destroyed them

its ironic how you hear americans and american politicians bloviate about 'main street' and 'small businesses' while having no smoke for multinational corporations like walmart that move into small towns, kill all the local businesses, then pack up and dip when there's nothing left. and who moves in after that? dollar general.

the north side of my town is super poor and a notorious food desert. a lot of people there have no choice but to buy groceries at dollar stores. DG knows this and preys on these areas. you'll find dollar general and family dollar stores open near each other so they can pick the bones clean.

i fully support the firebombing of these stores as well as any corporation that preys on the poor :pacspit:

it got so bad here the citizens came together and passed a law banning them from opening within a mile of each other.

Tulsa says no more Dollar General, curbing exploitation of black neighborhoods

Guys it's about the principle of the matter. She just got fed up with his brazen theft and decided to get payback.

Principles and logic don’t always work in tandem.

She’s literally damaged her car, will have to go to court and has now lost her job over the “principle” of stealing. The crazy thing is, he didn’t steal directly from her.

Her employers aren’t going to defend her. In fact, they’re mad they have a potential lawsuit on their hands.

When I worked in retail, I didn’t give a fukk if people stole. What do I look like risking my life for a company that considers me expendable?

I knew I was moving onto bigger and better things. I’m not trying to get shot over a few dollars. The elite truly have their “subordinates” trained well.

im tired of seeing this stupid talking point about how nationwide stores make money. that doesnt mean you can steal from them :dead:
It's not about that.

It's about the fact that if he would've killed her dollar General isn't going to even give her family money from the rest of the shift she was killed during!

Y'all love to talk about crash dummies. Imagine dying for a job that doesn't give you a pension, 401k or life insurance.

Y'all been beat down so bad, y'all are willing to die for minimum wage for a company that doesn't even know you exist.

The only smart principle is applicable to you and your persons.

If you are that stupid of a fukk to play supercop for a multi billion company, than you are no different than a sheep or a cow grazing on a hill.

same mentality at the end of the day
