Did they throw at him next time?
No, but he did get hit by a pitcher today (the next game) after a single....and then homered again in the next at bat.

Couple things....
This is a once every couple years event where players are playing for country pride. They only play a couple games and are in stadiums that wouldnt get a chance to see these players normally. Its like the Olympics where every 4 years people pretend like they give a shyt about the breast stroke and wrestling. The way the crowd is behaving now in the Tokyo Dome is not the same way they act during the 90th game of Nippon Professional Baseball. Even opening day games in MLB have pretty good atmosphere's.
2nd, its easy to celebrate and go wild on every hit when you know you wont have to see that pitcher again in 3 weeks. a 98 mph fastball to the head shuts that down quickly.
3rd is of course grumpy old white people.

I remember seeing or reading an interview with several Dominican players who were asked if they would be more excited to win the WBC for their country or win a World Series for their MLB team, and to a man they all said that the WBC was more important.

Japan games are like soccer games and their players have no problem doing celly’s and having fun even with how conservative their culture is. The outlier is the American team. Just swagless white boys. Even the Hockey team had juice.

This is pretty much the same in every sport. Ask Messi what means more his 5-6? Champions league trophies and numerous league awards or his one World Cup. Even the Dream Team dudes had more fun in the Olympics. Modern professional sports is just a job and business. They’ll drop you like dead weight and the fans will turn on you. Your country is your country no matter what

Its all fun and games until semi finals this same DR team lost to Venezuela 2023 score being 5-1....lets see if they can beat USA that has a loaded pitching line up this year.
