Quote the contrary. My top 10-15 albums is like 90% nyc artists, but all of those albums are pre-1998. For me, I miss the era before the south took over. No disrespect to the south, but that was the era when nyc had rappers on top of the game and there was still regional sounds to rap, where as now, everyone sounds like trap/drill

If you like the newer nyc artists that cool, the ny artsist I'm fukking w/ are from Buffalo, and Rome Streetz
