I can say a lot of shyt to support why I think this is more dangerous but I'll try to keep it short as possible while still making a good case, I think. Trump won't be taken out because, his supporters will go nuts. If he dies of natural causes these people are already so gone they will claim he was killed like they did with Scalia and still cause problems. Imagine if he died of anything else that can even be construed as non-natural causes. The government isn't going to risk that unless it's an immediate threat that it has no other course. It's safer to just try and delegitimize him in the public consciousness through some psyops.More power than the Governement? You think he can't get taken out for saying this dumb stuff?
Anyways folks think way too much of stability of government. Empires rise and fall and nothing about the American government makes it immune. Government derives it's power by people buying into it as a system and also a monopoly on violence (this is what keeps it from being routinely overthrown).
The first part of that is definitely on the decline as political polarity, social strife, and dissatisfaction with the current system has only gotten worse and I see it getting even worse instead of getting better in the future. Social media was an amplifier of this and that shyt may very well lead to the destruction of the American system as we know it and can be replaced by more reactionary forces since social media whole business model is fueling reactionary thinking and extremism.
The second part is also not a guarantee. The state has a monopoly on violence through law enforcement and military. But, how many current and former LEOs and Military people were involved in Jan 6th? A lot. Mostly rank and file and the reason Trump's coup attempt failed is because he couldn't get generals on board. But you look at Michael Flynn and some of these former and current military who pop up on Fox news and other places who buy into this ideology and then it's not far fetch to think, simply placing loyalists at the top of the military can help facilitate a successful coup in the future if he somehow got in office again. He just has to find some yes men to fill those positions who are more malleable. Once a government loses support of its own military and LEO then that is game over. Government bureaucrats and politicians only have the power they do because the military and to a lesser extent, law enforcement, acts a barrier between them and the rage of the mob. Once they lose that, they become helpless scrubs like the rest of us. This is why for example, in the Roman Empire, most new dictators who came to power immediately increased the wages of it's soldiers and praetorian guard due to the latter having a history of killing leaders who they no longer support. They realized their power only exist if they have a loyal military to protect them. Far-right extremism typically views current government as something that needs to be dismantled. More and more individuals who make up the military and law enforcement are getting sucked into this anti-democratic and authoritarian way of thinking to the point it could hinder the government to react to a threat against it since many of the people who are supposed to protect it are now sympathizing with it's dismantling.
