Bruh, that's the grift. He doesn't care about how much you have to pay at Walmart, he just doesn't want the blame.
He's fine with blame. But the real grift is that trump knows 99% of his base considers Walmart to be a 2nd home.

If you polled Walmart shoppers in these southern states, these ppl are 99% maga. Trump doesn't want his name directly attached to this.

He didn't confront Target or any other retailer over this.

Walmart didn't "eat" the tariffs last time like Bessent claims, they still passed the costs on to us over time. This is just the same con all over again. It's crazy to me how willing some people are to believe what Trump and his corporate partners say. All this is, is him telling them to shut up and wait for their corporate tax-cuts.

This entire tariff situation is a complete debacle. I could see if it was just used as a negotiating tool or leverage, but this administration has not given a clear and definitive answer about tariffs. One day there are 25% tariffs, the next day they are lowered. A few days later and there are more tariffs. A few days after that. they are apparently lowered. People want stability and not seeing answers and directions regarding tariffs changed every other day.

My biggest issue where I think people who support the tariffs are being idiotic is the entire idea of brining manufacturing back to the U.S.

It sounds great in theory, but the manufacturing that will be brought here will obviously end up being highly automated. This isn't the fukking Industrial Revolution or WWII where there were tons of people working in factories. Then you get idiots that don't realize that prices WILL go up if you go this route. I don't have an issue with bringing manufacturing back to the U.S. as long as people aren't dumb enough to believe that we will see lower prices because of that when it will clearly be the opposite.
