Doesn't mean that much.In the last republican primaries, almost every candidate took the lead at some stage because the base were not keen on mitt romney who had been annointed as the candidate to face president obama by the republican establishment and media. The republican base thought the fix was in,so almost every candiate in the primary lead at one time or another, michelle bachmann, newt gingrich twice maybe 3 times, rick perry for some time, herman cain, even that ridiculous one rick santorum did near the end due to gingrich being outspent by mitt romney. Right now,if you are really against the donald I wouldn't be overly fussed.it's just because the base yet again, doesn't like the ones the media and the republican establishment want to annoint, jeb bush, basically. They don't want another bush. Can you blame them? who wants another bush or a clinton for that matter? You would think the republican establishment would have learnt something from that time, not to pick 'moderate republicans' who no one in their base likes so the base starts voting for ridiculous candidates, then you have a long drawn out primary where all the candidates tear each other apart. By the time it was done romney had already been mortally wounded by gingrich,in fact some of the stuff gingrich used to attack romney was also used by obama.

The thing is though, donald trump has a massive amount to spend, and if recent elections are anything to go by, outspending your rivals tends to work. and the money trump has is his own, he doesn't have to rely as much on donors, that could well help him if he gets as far as the primary debates, because the other candiates including the dems are may have to take less popular positions because of the money men in the background pulling their strings. Trump won't have that problem. Good chance though trump is just going to talk himself into being completely ridiculous before it gets to that stage, even by republican standards. but I would worry if he survives for much longer. If the democrats pick hillary to run... I wouldn't dismiss anything happening , she has a huge amount of baggage now, and she isn't as polished or as likeable as barack. She is also old, Barack was young ,fresh, and full of hope. The democrat party aren't in great shape either when it comes to decent options.

But maybe Iam underestimating trump and the republican party, it may be a smart move to bring out the donald,to make divvisive comments, and scream about lawsuits, draw out all the negative media and democrat attention on him, while a dark horse in the republican party quietly gathers support and works out a strategy, but who is the dark horse?

If you're a democrat this should be a godsend. Let Trump win the primaries, the debates would be hilarious and he would lose big.

Also, polls this early mean nothing. Remember Herman Cain was at one time a front runner?

No one wants Bush vs Clinton..

But that's probably what's going to happen.
