I don't know what is with these middle aged and older women these days. Ask them if they want a seat, and about 90% of the time they'll decline talking about, "No, I'm good" and take another seat when it opens up a few stops later. Trying to put on a brave face for equality, I guess?

After enough of these scenes, I decided to just start giving the seats up. And of course, it works. Always trying to save face.

i agree, but in my opinion, the 'right thing' becomes blurred when there's no positive incentive. holding the door or not, i'm not really doing a bad deed either way.

I feel the exact same way. If I had gotten a chick pregnant I'm making sure she's not taking mass transportation.
