Its as much of a mob movie as any. Mob movies are rarely about the criminal organization than it is about the lives of the gangsters themselves and those around them and the lifestyle.

Pacino in this is what did it for me acting wise. Depp was good but Al was the one who held it together. Close to a classic but I like Bronx Tale a little better. GF 1, 2 and Goodfellas are the top three for me.

I swear people overrate 'Casino' massively. Its entertaining, but uninspiring and borderline generic. It adds nothing to the genre, and steals a lot from past films.

While I agree A Bronx Tale isn't top their it is definitely a mob movie. It was more of a throw back to the classics and borrows a lot from Mean Streets and The Wanderers but added a little bit of its own flavor. There's a couple of great moments but I wouldn't say it's one of the genres defining films
