I don't understand how former players don't put qualifiers on these statements.

If Stafford worth that money? Simply speaking yes because he got paid that amount. Should he be considered in the echelon of the other quarterbacks in that range? No, because of his record.

Keep in mind he is only 25......................

Pretty much. He's entering his 5th season and is still only 25. The guy does have a 40 Td pass season under his belt.

The Lions haven't had a QB as good as Stafford, well ever. The deals only 3 years right? What was he alternative to Stafford for the next 3 years at QB? There really wasn't any.

Stafford obviously has all he physical tools...they're just hoping the coachable part of the position comes around. You can't teach his arm strength.
