You know what? Even though Gottlieb is a piece of shyt himself, the media needs a don't-give-a-fukk kinda guy like that to swtich it up and give us entertaining moments like this.

What's the backstory on their beef?

According to Jalen when they were younger Ed Martin would do little things like buy them shoes, bring them food, hit me off with some pocket change, let em borrow cars etc. Then when Webber decided to leave Michigan Ed Martin loaned him something like $270,000. Once Webber signed his contract he then started to completely duck Ed Martin and never paid him back for the loan. Jalen says that they were still broke while paying at Michigan and never received anywhere near that much money while on campus.

Fast forward and an NCAA investigation takes place. The rest of the Fab Five admit getting some things from Ed Martin. Webber lies and says Ed Martin is essentially a leach trying to take advantage of young kids and that he never received a dime from him. This was all in a Grand Jury testimony. It is determined that Webber lied and he's hit with purjury and Michigan decides to self punish itself which included erasing Fab Five history for 10 years. Jalen blames Webber for the ban. Once the ban is over Michigan says they won't put the final four banners back up unless Webber publicly apologizes. Jalen came out saying he thinks Webber should apologize since him lying was the cause of it all. That seemed to be when their beef hit the next level.

It was already brewing when Jalen said Webber was foul for shytting on Ed Martin like that since Martin had done so much for them throughout the years as well as for other kids who never had a chance to even make it out.

In his book Jalen also paints the picture that while the rest of the Fab Five was super tight that Webber was the more distant member of the group who spent a lot more time with other people. And he mentions instances of popping up at Freaknik and running into Webber and being shocked that he didn't mention that he was going knowing the others were going. Then how throughout their NBA years hed do shady stuff like telling them he had hotel room waiting for them at all-star game and they'd show up and there was no room and how he would dodge their calls. Also says it was the other members of the fab five who pushed him to open up and speak on Webber shunning the rest of them since he was the one with the voice in the national media and people need to be made aware of what was going on with them.
