Ken Rebel. I'm not sure if he still makes music but he was really big on Tumblr back in like 2010. I can't remember what the name of their group was but it was like him, Glyn (Glen ?) who at the time was with that chick who dated Sheck Wes, her name is escaping me

EDIT : Glyn Brown right and his chick at the time was Justine Skye

Kid Sister was an interesting case, because she raps and does a bit of harmonizing, but she wasn't referred to as a rapper in the media :jbhmm:

Blows up with having Kanye on her single "Pro Nails" and her Kiss Kiss Kiss mixtape was pure piff, with Gucci Mane on "Gucci Rag Top"

the remix with Danny Brown was unexpected, but i fux with it

would've been interesting if she did a few songs with Azealia Banks after 212 dropped, but i think KS dropped off just as AB was ascending

last i checked, she had a project where she renamed herself Jane Jupiter

Does Danny Brown qualify for the blog rap era as well?

Most definitely, first I heard of him was when the RappersIKnow blog was hosting and releasing his early tapes

I think so. I was listening to some of his older stuff a few days ago. He had a show in Vice and his teeth are fixed

A lot of memories from that era. I had my old BlogTalkRadio show back then I used to play a lot of these cats songs on my show. Met a few of these cats at showcases at Santos Party House and the Paperbox. Even got to make some beats for lesser known cats. Dope era. Music was pure. Fun. Innovative. Everyone was bringing their own. Dope shyt

This is correct. Those Justus League mixtapes and LB era were about 2002-2007 right before the blog era took off. They influenced that entire generation.

Facts

Kendrick, Wiz, Cudi, Drake, Cole emerged as the superstars from the blog rap era, shyt even Tyler...
Wale Spitta Gibbs like the next tier down

Big KRIT, Lil B, Danny Brown and Denzel Curry too

Good thread. Looking back I lowkey miss this era. College days were special.

same

it made rap fun again imo people just trying different sounds

what’s funny if you were on soho during this time hiphop heads hated this era because it wasn’t Nas or NY boom map

15 years later and they’re still complaining about rap not being boom bap
