If you're looking for another Wire, they ain't never doing that again
those mfers are in some trouble. They got 5 episodes left of running. Wtf are they sticking around in the city. I'd tell my people what was up and if they want to stay and get dismembered, then it's on them.
Think of that show We Own This City
That was pretty close
that's what this should feel like
audience going into a show with a determined/stringent expectation of what it should feels like, just sounds like a recipe to never enjoy anything![]()
This shyt is piff. I wish they dropped all the episodes at once.
who were the biker guys talking to on the phone in the bar, the Asian guy? That was a little confusing.
I didn't necessarily get "gritty" out of the first episode. Show has a Fargo like vibe going on for me - in which it is a comedy-crime drama. The first episode had plenty of slapstick comedy like moments/dialog.
In any case, audiences shouldn't be arguing what a show should feel like. you either like/enjoy what you're being served or don't
I am not sure where this idea comes from. Part of the love of the 'game', or watching movies, or rap, or TV, or whatever it is, is in the review of it. The whole of you don't like it, don't watch, there's a lot I just don't want, because I have no interest. In this case, I had more when I started.
For example, the scenes of them at that grimy ass hot dog stand, talking drugs and money, vs the scene where Ray is crying to a therapist?
The tone shifts all over, lurches all over, and that's part of my critique. I think it is going for all those things and not quite landing. I mean the dudes Dad gets cut up on the yard. They aren't going for light comedy. There's some whole subplot about a tragic death in his past. There's a whole scene in the first ep where he's at an AA meeting. I thought a lot of the first one was really solid. If you can't see the difference, I won't like argue with you about it, but it's there. The next two are almost comedic, despite the growing body count.
words have meaning - and I try to be intentional with mine. I haven’t - at any point, in any of my posts - said nor suggested you shouldn’t review it or that “if you don’t like it, don’t watch it”. Much like arguing what a show should feel like, adding or attributing words to other posters seems like a losing proposition. I don’t know why you’d engage in that.
Objectively re-read my posts. What I did say was that audiences going into a show with a determined/stringent expectation of what it should feels like, just sounds like a recipe to never enjoy anything - and as such they shouldn’t engage in conversations regarding what a show should feel like - contextually - because it is a losing proposition. You either like what you’re being served or don’t - this doesn’t translate to “if you don’t like it, don’t watch it” - I’ve watched many a thing I didn’t like, for clarification.
From a reviewing standpoint - it doesn’t even make sense nor is it conducive of a fair, objective assessment if you’re spending your time pinning after what something should feel like rather than assess it for what it is

I bet it's just some random Michael Rooker looking dude.No one knows yet. You've been hearing his voice the past 3 episodes and no one knows who it is
