The bad rep comes from how tore up some hoods are and because of the violence.

The most underrated thing about the D is that without all the things that CHI, NY, and LA has, you will NEVER be bored in Detroit :yeshrug:. The environment of people is fukkin special. You will never understand how it feels living on a block where everybody is outdoors all night. I used to love that shyt.

Clubs close at 2, block still banging at 5 :ehh:. I love neighborhoods and blocks like that. Call it ghetto, call it whatever. At 34, I still love that shyt :yeshrug:

I'm 49 and I remember my older sister and my cousins having their sweet 16 parties in the late 1970's and early 80's...the whole neighborhood would party until the sun came up. It was beautiful. Those type of parties ended in my northwest Detroit neighborhood when crack arrived in the summer of 1984.

Detroit You bytch Ass nikka
Detroit still has some solid neighborhoods.
Definitely. Mostly on the Westside though, there are a bunch of west side hoods without abandoned houses and green grass, but nikkas still get killed daily in those hoods :snoop:.

Damn near the whole Eastside is tore up hoods. I'm from Warren and Chalmers and down by Finney used to look nice to us as kids, that shyt all boarded up now (though still somewhat ok). The rest of the Warren, headed West, is hood as hell.

It's not uncomfortable to a nikka like me doe although I live in the burbs now, I spend multiple nights thru the week in the hood.

Back in the day Livernois/Lodge/McNichols area was a nice place to live and buy stuff. I dont know if it's still like that now, I assume.

When I was there I had alot of fun, it was not over priced and underwhelming like some other cites. Only thing I didn't like is the way the high ways are made you don't have enough room to merge :russ:

Damn near gotta hit 90 just to get on the freeway and they still on your ass. Anytime I head to Detroit it's always some drivers out there doing way too much on the freeway.

I mean I always expect more people to get killed where more people live at.

Abandoned hoods look very scary but are they more dangerous than hoods where active hood nikkas live at?

I miss the festival days when you would have about a million people by the water at the African World Festival put on by the museum with some Ford and GM money.
Different festival every weekend at Hart Plaza back in the day. Good ole days

Now it's just Jazz Fest, everything else been kicked out and on to their local grounds.

Came back to check out Jazz fest about 2 years ago I think. Saw Macy Gray(sp?)
