Above the fray.
What moved goal post? I never laid down a previous one. The time period I referenced covers Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, HW Bush, Clinton, W Bush, Obama, and Trump administration. You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who says that crop produced anything greater than stagnation and the rare respite. Obama is seen by many here as the best name on the list, and questions over whether he did anything, is literally one of the topics of this thread.
Not sure if you still post, but we disagreed on what happened socially/economically the past 50 odd years in America
I said incremental progress, you said stagnation and respite.

In light of Trump actively dismantling the federal policies and protections that were enacted during the period in question , do you still stand by your earlier take?

Yep! Biden offered some temporary respite while Trump much like Bush and Reagan is amplifying the stagnation and decline. Biden was a speed bump on a road that over the long haul has gone down hill, and now Trump is going full speed ahead. This time period in my eyes is similar to post reconstruction. As soon as laws were put in place, the mechanics to get them eventually appealed were set in motion. The right has gone much farther over the decades in stripping protections away than Dems have gone in keeping them in place and building on it. That set the stage for round 2 of Trump's gutting.

Much like how Elon openly buying the presidency even if he failed at getting all of what he wanted, was allowed to happen due to Buckley v Valeo in the 70s, which later brought Citizens United, which eventually led to Elon being able to drop a billion in super packs if he wanted. It's something that has been chipping away slowly but surely

I respect that you responded, and your opinion.

But I 100% disagree, and we are all seeing in real time the deliberate rolling back of the legal gains and progress made over the past 50 years.
Out of Trump's own mouth, he's on an anti-diversity mission to "correct the mistakes and trajectory this country has taken in the past 60 years"
60 years marks roughly the signing of the 1st Civil Rights Act.
The timing of Trump's 1st term, and the amount of Supreme Court justices he was able to put in place laid the groundwork for what he and his minions are doing now.

"But Dems didnt work hard enough to protect those gains" is a deflection. As is the mentioning of the Compromise that ended Reconstruction.

Again, respect that you responded, neither of our opinions will change, and I think the actual facts are crystal clear.
