Gotta think the lack of external features have to do with label rights and contracts. Seems like this project was put together rather quickly.

You really think so? I read that's the direction he was going for a while with Detox but looking at that tracklist and the features it looks like a pretty straight hip hop album to me. I don't think he'd call the album "Compton" if he the album is filled with house and edm.
I think we can look to American Gangster as the blueprint
to what Dre is doing here. That album had alot of 70s soul style production to go along with the setting of the movie, I think this will sound alot like an 80s hip hop album production-wise. Nostalgia is the thing these days

Oh sh!t I just read the credits. Dre is rapping a lot on this, I just read the features thinking it was a compliation but this is techincally a studio album.
