Dr. Dre is the greatest hip hop producer of all time. Hands down. Nothing overrated about him

Not sure if trolling...

Who would you name that has 2 fully produced albums at the level of Doggystyle and Chronic ?

Maybe RZA with 36 & Purple but still no to me

The Bomb Squad

Marley Marl

In any case, using "fully produced albums" as a metric is unfair. One producer doing all of the production for an album stopped being common by the early-mid 90s.

This here.

The thing that people never mention, is that Dre isn't just making beats. Dude launches whole careers! His students become legends themselves and those legends go off and create other legends. His impact is second to none. Him and Q-Tip are two of the most important producers Hip Hop has ever seen. Nobody has created more classics or legends than they have.

How many classics and careers has this dude been responsible for? That also plays a part in him being the GOAT. Nobody touches this guy.

His catalog is too thin.

His NWA era stuff was good, not earth-shattering

The production on Fear of a Black Planet and It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back is way better than anything in Dre's catalog.

Great post and true

That’s one of the biggest difference between him and DJ Quik

Q-Tip is amazing.

Dude is just timeless with his production

I remember them both saying how they inspired each other (The Chronic and The Low End Theory)

How many songs did Dre produce from the mid-90s on?

I'm sure you could Google that.

But GOAT's aren't about quantity, bro. It's about quality.

Dude started in the mid-80's. How many classic projects did he produce that shifted the culture since then? Objectively. That's the question we should be asking. Who has more impactful work in Hip Hop than Dre does over the course of damn near 40 years? Who has created and been responsible for more legendary artists than Dre has?

No one comes close.

My argument was his catalog is too thin. So my argument is about quantity.

Dre has quality, but other producers had quality and quantity.
