Of course you have the creators but think about it.
Yea rap was funky and fresh and shyt during the early mid 80s and shyt. But lets keep it real, that shyt wouldve been old and dead by the mid 90s at the latest if thats all hip hop consisted of.
If it wasnt for NWA blowing up gangster rap, rap would have died off, or it wouldve been wacc as hell.
NWA blew up, thus inpsiring a whole new generation of rappers and a new hip hop sound. Dr Dre launced the chronic, which then set the tone for the time, and basically that early 90s west coast period was the blue print for the south, who eventually went on to run shyt.
Dre's key influences in hip hop:
Produced for and was a member of NWA, which launched Gangster Rap.
Produced and starred on the Chronic, which launced G funk, the sound of the early 90s that reached as far as New York.
Founded Snoop Dogg, the hottest rapper at the time.
One of the starters of Death Row Records.
Founded Eminem.
Foundedn 50 cent.

Pac was born in NY, went by the name of MC New York. Raised in Baltimore and didn't move to the westcoast until he was a grown ass man (18 yrs +)
The n1gga was 17 yrs old and from Baltimore like Marlo, Snoop and Chris in this video, n1gga ain't know sh1t about the westcoast at this late stage in his short life
Pac was just a confused n1gga who had no place to run to after getting shot so he signed with the biggest westcoast rap label and starting claiming westcoast

2pac was in the west coming up in the rap game with west coast producers producing majority of his tracks rapping with mainly other west coast artists on a west coast label getting discovered by a west coast group "Digital Underground" and u wanted him to claim New York?

gangsta rap started in New York anyways...Just Ice was the "gangsta of rap" at the same time that KRS was gaining momentum with similar subject matter. Dre Cube and Eazy were nowhere to be found.
