"Spousal support" has to be the most ridiculously ironic term to throw around during a divorce. You don't want to be with your spouse anymore, but you still want their support?
All those laws are archaic, and are from the era when (white) women didn't work. They were harsh laws meant to serve as a deterrent for divorce.
Lawyers representing the ex wives of wealthy men have abused those laws. There needs to a cap on settlements , alimony, and child support regardless of how wealthy a man is.
