Its selling hope to a people who had no hope prior. If you look at the backgrounds of people who follow Umar (key word is follow and not someone who may have heard him and agreed with things he said), they tend to be people who are low income, not the most educated, but understand the world is jacked up and can't really articulate their feelings, and they see someone like Umar who knows how to "Speak it Plain" and they relate to him and then become galvanized. So instead of taking what ever they agree with him saying and implementing it into their own lives, they become fanatics who feel that their existence lives or dies on Umars success so they are behind him no matter what.

This is a real issue.
There is clearly a space for a heavily active, historically knowledgeable, conscious Black person to lead the groups that are clearly walking around blind.
Unfortunately, no one serious taking that place. Instead we have guys who are 1/2 serious like Umar, Tariq, Tommy, etc.
It honestly wouldn't be that hard to gain a following just by trying.

So.....I don't follow Umar on any social media nor do I frequent this forum to know he's apparently been a hot topic here for a minute now. I follow NO man. However.....there is very little I've heard this man say that I disagree with. So you're going to attribute any and every meme with his likeness back to him as the creator of it? Yeah ok. I've heard lectures where he stated there are several social media pages attributed to him that he actually has nothing to do with. So if any of these memes came from said pages....oh well fukk it, who needs facts? It's more fun to bash the man for not being a perfect celibate monk as he tries to raise consciousness. Let's say he did make these meme's......does that NOT mean the school system is designed to miseducate and eventually medicate young black children? Wait....you mean there is NO school to prison pipeline? He made that up? We do elect presidents? The glorified spokesman isn't already selected? There is NO electoral college? The uptick in unarmed black boys being shot by police and random white citizens has NOTHING to do with a "black" man sitting in the oval office? If the school he's trying to buy cost 4 million, but to date he's only raised 250-500k or so....the math doesnt tell you where the school is? Last I heard St Paul wanted all 4 mil upfront, no down payments. But you're wondering where the school is? Oh wait you just wanna make sure he ain't spend the money he did raise. No way a black man can be sitting on 250K and not spend it right? Cuz he said the money is gone right? But didnt say what happened to it right? Did I miss that? I definitely missed when it was said you can't be a pro-black speaker AND get some p*ssy. Especially if you're single. But hey what do I know? All the memes are directly from HIS instagram. Which he also posts on HIS twitter. Which he also posts on HIS facebook. Which there are links to on HIS website. But as you said who needs facts? Fam was posting them up heavy during that "feud" with Boyce Watkins.

I feel where you coming from, I to have a issue with tons of guys only talking through social media getting they keyboard karate chop on, calling everybody, and I mean everybody who stands up for black liberation a fraud, a con artist, not doing nothing etc and normally these same people don't do a damn thing themselves, got white ass wives and pretty much punches a clock and goes home.
Umar speaks a lot of truth. It's easy to critique people in this day while honoring those who are with the ancestors, truth is those ancestors had blemishes too. Some had huge egos too, they clashed argued etc. So that part I always dislike. People who personally bring in their christianized methodology and standards in judgement and treat every speaker like they should be the standard of jesus, but in reality we all are just men that are incomplete and with flaws, and as intelligent men not trying to be some damn robots, we should have the intellect to take the good from people but understand their flaws and take it as such. I don't need everyone to be perfect for me to get the information I need from them.
Phil valentine is a little looney in some areas. But he has some good to offer so I take the history from him that he is well versed at, and then I turn the station when he starts talking that reptilian shyt. Umar has great information on the school system, prison system erc, he just not one I would take business advise from. The couple hundred I sent to his school, hell I've blown more than that shopping for clothes or electronics. Not going to kill me. I think more people need to adopt this way of being. Stop putting people in a position of being a prophet and accept them for what they are. What they are will not make or break the entire black community no way. Let them help and teach the way they can and the parts they weak in they keep to themselves.
