DMX, Ja Rule, Jay Z, Eminiem, Puffy, Cash Money, No Limit is what was "wrong" with coming out in "99/00. Poor guy never had a chance and I listed the top dogs not even the b list rappers that got more shine than him. The movie with X was good look but he isn't spoken of Ever rap circles today. Had he come out today he'd be NYC's savior.
Right, i hear you. Kinda went hand-in-hand with him not being on a major. So he never had that a machine. Eve was really a Aftermath artist. Lox were prior on Bad Boy so they had already built a momentum off that. X was obviously on Def Jam. Drag-On was strictly on Ruff Ryders (who had a deal with Interscope). Ruff Ryders was literally a new label at that time, they started out doing management & got a deal after Lox & X blew up. So it could also be that. I hear you tho.
I dont know about that last part tho.
