DMX, Ja Rule, Jay Z, Eminiem, Puffy, Cash Money, No Limit is what was "wrong" with coming out in "99/00. Poor guy never had a chance and I listed the top dogs not even the b list rappers that got more shine than him. The movie with X was good look but he isn't spoken of Ever rap circles today. Had he come out today he'd be NYC's savior.

Right, i hear you. Kinda went hand-in-hand with him not being on a major. So he never had that a machine. Eve was really a Aftermath artist. Lox were prior on Bad Boy so they had already built a momentum off that. X was obviously on Def Jam. Drag-On was strictly on Ruff Ryders (who had a deal with Interscope). Ruff Ryders was literally a new label at that time, they started out doing management & got a deal after Lox & X blew up. So it could also be that. I hear you tho.

I dont know about that last part tho.

He was good for a verse or song here and there but he was never an elite rapper. His debut cemented that. His content and lyrics were straight  after a while.

Right cuz "alot" of rappers had deep & good content at the time :mjlol:

Rap fans are funny like that. Im not aiming this at you so dont take it personal. But they pick & choose. That is why the biggest reason the
machine matters to the rap audience especially. Drag just aint had the Universal machine like Hot Boys, Eve & X (eventually) had,
or Priority/EMI like No Limit had, Violators/Def Jam (thru Polygram/Universal) that NORE had & the list goes on. Ruff Ryders had their deal thru Interscope
but he was the first "straight Ruff Ryders" artist to put out an album on the newly built label. Lox did too but they obviously had been around for mad years & just signed back to Ruff Ryders (as a label, not management), even prior to Bad Boy.

Drag was probably mostly a spitter who didnt get developed enough. If you look at Ruff Ryders history that was their m.o. To take in artists from the street who did, and/or put them through, alot of battles & ciphers through the streets. He was also like 19-20 when his first album hit.
