Also keep in mind that 17 and 18 were taking down the whole crew that included Trunks and Vegeta with ease prior to that. The same Trunks and Vegeta destroyed those two movie androids when they both went SSJ

It's not about wasting a slot. It's about disrespecting the fans of android 17. By making him a costume swap your saying he's nothing more then a clone of 18.

Which again you COULD of done that pre super. But after 17's showing in the current arc it's clear 17 is his own character independent from 18.

The outrage already about 17 simply being a assist for 18 already has the fans mad. But they not realizing this game started dev late 2015. Arcsys had no idea about the current tournament arc.


SSB Goku and Vegeta have enough differences to create separate characters. It's the same as Ryu/Evil Ryu.

It's just a alternative costume, the same way NRS adds other characters as costume skins in injustice.

I don't think I'd be disrespectful at all and a nice touch to be able to change which android fights and assist.

Arcsys would never do shyt like that Capcom and NR got yal trained to accept garbage. They've NEVER done a "costume switch" and passed it off as a new character. Even when they've had extremely similar characters they've went all out to show the difference through gameplay and new assets.

The bolded is a known fact, and yeah overall 16 didn't do anything too groundbreaking, but he did put the beats on Cell before he ran and absorbed 17. I like 17 better, but 16 is more relevant and better choice if we're talking pre-Super 17. It would be dumb to put out the DBZ versions of both 17 and 18 when they're both the same person fighting style wise. Super is when they started to shape up into their own fighters. Considering the material they had during development, Arcsys putting 16 over 18 is a better move altogether.

On a related note, my man 17 killing it in Super now. Dude is giving no fukks
