Probably not cause that bubblegum shyt was going out the window when the street music was going platinum,

Must’ve missed the bad boy era my guy. Mase, P Diddy and the Family and them wasn’t no street music. Even then rappers had to have some bubble gum shyt that drove the sales.

This doesn't mean shyt considering a song can only be certified if you pay for the plaque. The vast majority of the artists out there ain't paying for that crap lol.

Biggies stuff was. Mobb & Jay was. X. 50. Wayne. Master P. List keeps going.
None of this is “street”. They always had bubble gum shyt to drive up album sales. People would buy your album for a few soft joints and them “street joints” would be in there. How old are you? Labels would force artist to release songs like these.

Bubble gum shyt was always in.

Aside from maybe Hey Luv, 21 Questions & Candy shop those other songs were not as candy coated. X’s song is a bit rugged. Jay’s song isn’t bubble gum.

Labels are never in the artists best interest. Pun’s song sounds more like a rap record than a commercial single. It’s not as soft as today’s music.
