Wealthy people desire tremendously to stockpile as much of these things as possible and leave the rest of society lacking. It's fukking ridiculous to say "there is no shortage" when the top 1% now owns 40% of total wealth and it's growing every year. Look at all the companies trying to buy up all remaining property - you don't think it's gonna get harder and harder for regular folk to access that property in the future after the wealthy have bought it all up?
