how was it not big? Even cacs on cable news were randomly bringing it up. J prince had to go a full damage control tour over it....

Because it stopped being played a few weeks after it was released?

The big diss records get spins years and years after. People still get hyped to play them. People were playing 'Back To Back' a year after it came out. shyt even No Vaseline and Dollars & Sense are played on the radio / mix shows still....

Adonis wasn't even a bigger record than 'Back To Back' and it should have been.

Nah. At some point he won’t be in the forefront of pop/R&B or rap anymore. Happens to everyone. Even Jay.

At some point sure, I guess. But nobody has had a run as dominant as Drake in rap...ever. We're in uncharted territory and have been for quite some time. Every single year he has multiple hit songs, and often times some of them aren't even singles. It's been that way since 2009. That's a decade of dominance.

Is he going to fall off next year? No. Year after that? Probably not. Year after that? Maybe. It's insane. I'm not a Drake fan obviously but jeez...

"I mean you know I love a challenge, but challenged by who?
I'll let you bring a thousand recruits
My peers are a talented group
But even if you take all their statistics and carry the two
Even if you rounded up the numbers and rounded the troops
There's still nothin' they could really do
It's too bad reality checks don't cover the balances due
Whenever it's time to recoup"

It's not even arguable:wow:

Pusha doesn’t have a million corporate dikkriders like drake has. Adidon was all over the place when it dropped that’s all that matters. You act like kids know wtf a no vaseline or dollars and sense is. Even back in the day....what? East coast nikkas were reciting DJ quik bars aimed at MC eiht 5 years after it came out ?:mjlol:

most of the old heads in here were 18 when jay was 40 i think drake is in that mold where hes a pop star theres no age cut off.
I remember around the time Cam dissed Jay he said that the average 15 year old didn't know Jay...like they knew who he was in a general sense but weren't there for his legacy.

I don't get Coli's obsession with Kendrick/Cole generation being old to teenagers.

I don't give a fukk what people half my age are listening to. I'm not trying to fit in with them.

Everyone ages.

Every generation from Moe Dee/Caz/Mel generation to Kane/Ra/krs/g rap to jay/nas/em to tip/jeezy/wayne has managed to have people who survived and still managed to find an audience

But how can that be the case when half his run has been R&B/pop?
Find Your Love
Take Care
Hold on we’re going home
One Dance
Hotline Bling
The Keke song

And you’re revising history. Drake was not dominant in 2009. Definitely not 2010 when his first album was considered disappointing. Even in 2011 there were other rappers on his level. Nicki, Jay, Kanye, Wayne. Kendrick was there in 2012.
2013 and on I could see. Nicki, Jay, Kanye and Wayne were all either flopping or fading.
2017 Kendrick was either bigger or on Drske’s level.

What does corporate dikk riders have to do with this? I don't like Drake at all. Though if you want to be honest about the situation Adonis should have been bigger.

It doesn't matter if kids right now know no vaseline or not, it's the fact it still gets played. Adonis doesn't. It would have faded into obscurity if dumbass Drake didn't bring it back up again.

Nah. Adonis was gonna go down in the history books no matter what. Drake took the L on that one and he will always be associated with that.
It was never gonna end his career or anything like that (diss records rarely do) and it obviously wasn't intended to be a radio record or single. It was a diss record, one of the best, and it accomplished its goal.

Stop trying to make it seem like I’m arguing for Eminem :prodigylol:
Eminem might be top 50. He had a couple dope albums. No real top to bottom classics. And an abundance of corny subject matter and terrible albums.

EM IS NOT IN CONTENTION FOR TOP 5

But Drake doesn’t even rank for me because he is a hybrid artist. Compare him to Lauryn Hill, Missy, BEP.

You seriously got Drake Top 5 ALL TIME?? :PGucci:

  1. Prodigy
  2. Nas
  3. Ghostface
  4. Cube
  5. Rakim
  6. Biggie
  7. Pac
  8. Jay
  9. KRS

That’s as far as I’ve got it figured out

What’s your top 5?

1) Hov
2) Big
3) Killa Cam
4) Drake
5) Future
