At which point they hit you with bigger and bigger checks in hope that you continue to allow them to invest/own their career.

Once again there are massively successful artists who have signed similar deals across every genre, I'm not saying it's terrible across the board for every artist. But Drake should have the clout and cash to pay himself an album budget, partner with Roc Nation for tours, and earn as much $ as possible to buy his shyt from UMG instead of allowing that potential purchase price to go up and up. The fact of the matter is he doesn't care, he just wants the headline/big number to brag about. And given that he is ON RECORD saying he does not read contracts and lets his managers sign them...why should any of us assume he's smart enough to reach Hov's level of understanding.
