He wasn't tearing anything up. He was just the right image at the right time. Rap started marketing itself aggressively at kids as opposed to teens and new adults. Lil Wayne looked and sounded like a kid.

I hated drake when I was younger if you were caught bumping shyt like Shot For Me, Marvin's room, etc. you would've been looked at funny. They were right, those songs sucked and aren't hip hop in the slightest.

It wasn't until SFTB came out that I started liking him, 0-100 was another good move, then that run from IYRTITL to WATTBA was glorious I went to having some of his songs in my playlist as guilty pleasure and now he's one of my favorite rappers along with rocky

in hindsight though, so far gone was a good project. Successful has to be like a top 10 drake song.

Tadoe is definetely no super duper goat contender rapper, but dude used to be straight up unlistenable, just off beat screaming over beats.

I think it also has something to do with the fact that dude is actually more consistent with making music, he was more of a hobby rapper back then and was in charge of the dispensarys they run for most of the time, but now he even released a tape a couple days ago and has been featured / dropped songs more frequently
