Drake is not worth 600 mil to any other company but UMG, because they have th license to his back catalog.what I don't get, is why not just gauge his value by what other labels would be willing to pay him, that shouldn't be hard to do. No need to concoct a battle that he "wanted" then say ooooo here's our chance to drive the price down, let's make people like "Not Like Us" then we can re-sign Drake for pennies on the dollar!
that does hurt his chances at signing a new major deal like the old one. Current Drake is now currently a whipping post unlike previously when we just called him soft. However, I do feel like his current predicament is of his own doing. Kendrick just outmaneuvered him and he just let his inner bytch show. This man is a guest that overstayed his welcome.
I'm no business expert, but this doesn't make sense to me. Let's say they did sabotage Drake to sign him to a cheaper contract - haven't they then hampered their ability to make money from him (their biggest artist) moving forward by publicly destroying his image and reputation? Why would they shoot themselves in the foot like that? Seems extremely short-sighted.
