Because it’s soft, harder to prove that Kendrick didn’t reasonably believe what he said, can be rebutted as mudslinging in the same vein as calling Kendrick a wife beater and because Kendrick had no duty to him whereas he is arguing that UMG does and that they engaged in more illegal behaviors. There’s bigger money there and he wants some sort of monetary payment of contractual opt out from them. Kendrick would just countersue and deny.
