Drake just dropped a "bu bu but he didn't write it" NEW: '4pm in Calabasas'.

How many, of the millions of rappers that there are, became household names off 2 mixtapes?

Don't pretend that his only route to success was to acquire ghosts and pay ppl off. It takes a long time to get poppin.

He won though :yeshrug:

As much as I like this song and his music (for the most part, views is still average to me) it's fukked up that whenever drake drops a dope song where he kinda goes in all everyone wants to do is argue on which person in his camp wrote it lol.

Anyway you look at it the ghostwriter shyt really fukked his image up amongst rap fans, he's still at the top sales/popularity wise and I still think he will be for at least a few more years, pretty much because the average person doesn't care who wrote it long as they like it..but unfortunately he'll never be placed in "that" discussion with the rest imo.
If we were to have a serious discussion of Drake's mc abilities, I feel that a lot of people would get their feelings hurt. Because if you take away the star power, he couldn't stand with anyone who I consider top tier of mc'ng,imo.
I was going to write out a cohesive rational response why it is okay to consider Drake a top entertainer & a lackluster mc, but this video sums it up for me perfectly why Drake shouldn't be considered a GOAT mc in hip hop history. This Drake parody I feel sums up the feelings of most of the judgemental side of Hip hop listeners. If it wasn't a parody, we'd see the emoji owls w/ cigars/drake laughing etc celebrating the greatness of this song and quoting lines from it & how "Drake is unstoppable"

For the record if Hush or one of those random OVO guys came out and said "I wrote this shyt", I'd give him props. Because it's a decent song.

But dikk riding Drake when you don't even know what he wrote is like watching a puppet show, and afterwards thanking the puppet while ignoring the puppeteer. What are you fools fans of, exactly? Especially if you're an adult male. shyt is puzzling.

Fred.

this is really good.

Budden's paranoid ass (who thinks he has the two of the three biggest rappers in the world watching every move he makes) will try and take credit for this but in reality it was prolly those Jay verses that dropped this week that got him like

:patrice:

edit-- was about to read the thread but the first couple page's was enough

Nickelus F. point blank said he was writing for Drake since his first mixtape. Hell, if you look at "Nothing Was The Same", Hush is credited as co-writer on most of the tracks. He also has 12 writing credits on "Take Care". People noticed that back in 2011:

TAKE CARE LINER NOTES CONTROVERSY: WHO IS A. PALMAN?! « Kanye West Forum

Plus the reference tracks. Plus the tents. Plus Mo-G.

I don't get why you dudes can't just enjoy his music without this being a "Memento" situation where people gotta rehash the same points over and over. For the record, I'm not saying he didn't write a single bar but the benefit of the doubt is not in his favor on any given song. If that's hate :manny: so be it.

Fred.
Nickelus F ain't say that shyt he praised Drake's abilities as an MC and said he only did one verse he won't reveal...

Thinking dude never wrote a song in his life ever is stupid shyt considering he has dozens of songs with no co-writers. Not a single whole 16 bar verse or entire song came out of the Quentin Miller situation.
the whole Rico verse was lifted
No it wasn't it was only a couple lines verses are almost competely different...
