I mean...he released a mixtape and refused to call it an album...until he charged for it...titles don't matter anymore

Considering how everything has a price tag these days... They really don't. The only real difference you can say between a tape and an album I guess would be the level of focus that's present on there and cohesiveness. But even then, there's some mixtapes that are pretty cohesive and may as well be an album itself.
