When photos of custom OVO-edition Jordan X‘s and XII‘s surfaced on Drake‘s Instagram last night, it seemed nothing more than a rapper innocently flexing some new footwear that will never see the streets. Just this morning, however, Jordan Brand has publicly announced the Toronto-based superstar as the newest addition to its elite team of ballers, baseball players, boxers, and quarterbacks.

I don't see how Jordan brand needs Drake to keep selling shoes. Jordan/Nike are like the Coca Cola of the shoe world, all they need to do in their commercials is flash the logo on the screen for a few seconds and keep it moving. I can't see anyone who wasn't wearing Jordans before buying some just cuz said so, or atleast not enough to justify the extra expense of hiring Drake over some unknown actor

There is nothing athletic about Drake to me, but he has Kanye like influence on the youth. JB is smart. Plus that OVO is already a strong brand in Toronto/Canada. Anything associated with it will sell.

But Jordan doesn't NEED that Kanye like influence on the youth. Leave that shyt to Adidas or Reebok, not saying I'm gonna stop buying J's, but IMO it's just a case where the spokesman doesn't fit the brand

Those shoes will probably be limited edition 200 dollar shoes that cost 6 bucks to make. They dont even have to do any design work, its the same old shoe, yet people will rush to buy them. The profit margins will be .

Any popular spokesperson will do to make a cheap shoe and exclusive cheap shoe that they can charge ridiculous prices for. It's about the prestige. People go nuts over getting the same shoe in a different color. It'ss like collecting basketball cards in the 90's, you know it was just a cheap piece of card board with a picture on it, but damn if you didn't want to catch something exclusive.
